Just caught wind of this last night. What are the specs on this new boat, 20'? I see that he's using a Tohatsu 140 to push it. Looks like 3 maybe 4 larger fuel tanks, two in front of console and 1-2 behind the console. What's his fuel capacity?

I'm like 30 miles out in the gulf of Maine right now, 50 degree water temps. I have been a lot warmer duck hunting

There's another guy "The Bandit" on Facebook trying to beat Roberts solo record from last year. He left from the landing down the road from me in Shell Point last Friday. Both are entertaining to track.

It blows my mind the distance that they have traveled in the ocean and the gulf.

There’s a Fleming at the marina in Del city today when I was out walking today. They are doing the loop on it. Beautiful boat

I've been watching them when I can. The mindset of a 70+ yo man to take off and do this intrigues the hell out of me. They have it planned to the max and just about any conceivable contingency has been thought about.

I think that's the difference with this Bandit fella - he's by himself and seems to be flying by the seat of his pants.

Youens and Herndon are trying to beat 12 days 18hrs 10min and would like to make it in under 10 days. I hope like hell they do.

Robert Youens and Herdon will overtake the Bandit this morning. Amazing that they have made up that much ground after they lost a whole night due to a lock in Florida and started three days behind. The record may actually be on the table. MG

They’re lucky as shit with those big crossings in the Gulf. And there is some big water inshore going up the E coast for a jBoat.

The bandit fella is also doing all this with a Yamaha 105 jet outboard. Seems a bit risky to me. They don't like salt and sand that much. Lot of moving parts in one of those things.

When Robert was sitting at one of the locks earlier today I noticed the natural flow of the river went around an island. I’m curious if the bandit is running a jet boat so that he can run around the locks to make up time.

And not near as efficient , you loose ~ 30% of powerhead rated HP.

Thus my comment about going around the locks. If he can lose time on long straight aways but can make up it by going around the locks it he might could beat Roberts solo record (for the record I hope he doesn’t). But I’m curious if that’s his thought process.

Pretty sure he's mentioned in a video that he bought it from Alaska with a jet drive but has since switched the lower unit and converted to a prop which should be about 150hp.

Why would you like to see him not beat the record?

Robert and Steve made crazy time running the Gulf and the Atlantic! Praying the Great Lakes are friendly, plenty of ships on the bottom around those parts.

I know nothing about the guy or his story. Could do the research but it’s not that important. It just seems like the guy watched a 70yo man set the record and decided he should try to beat it. Just seems like everything else on social media these days. One guy does something cool and original then a bunch of people try to copy him.

Could be totally wrong but Robert is a badass and I’d like to see his record hold.

Roberts solo run was unbelievable. I hope his record holds too, he is an inspiration to all, even the copycats.
