Great Loop Record Run

Are any of y'all following Robert Youens on this trip? I know someone on here helped Robert out when he ran it solo and crashed into the marsh in SC.

Insane run across the Gulf from Mobile to FL on their first leg. Looks like he and his partner got pounded with some weather. He's using Starlink to post videos. Insane yet awesome! Hope he beats the record!

Looks like he’s going to try to run his Atlantic track again this year. Hopefully the weather doesn’t push him inshore again.

Can't imagine the beating they take in a boat that small for two weeks.

My wife and I have talked about it for several years. My son is getting close to finishing school and a little closer to coming off my payroll.

I have researched a bunch of boats, toured a few, and talked to some folks that have spent a bunch of time on theirs. A ton of good Youtube

vids out there too.

Looking at 45-50 trawlers in good mechanical condition. I can do alot of the fix up /maintenance stuff myself.

Still in the dream phase, but when the time hits I want to have my due diligence done and pull the trigger.

Same. I could do the Loop on a 60 Fleming or a Nordhavn 46 MkII. Not so much bouncing in an aluminum boat. MG

I'm no ocean expert , and last time i stayed in a Holiday Inn was about 20 yrs ago..... just checked conditions at Cape Canaveral, waves at .5' , 8 sec interval if i read it right.

My buddy just went to Palm Beach and picked up a 2022 Nordhavn 63, he lives in Va Beach
He is with the Nordhavn "trainer" for a week. Was included in the purchase.
