The current is 4 in Gulf, 1 on Blakes and 2 from the Nose to Elbow. All headed north. 1200 gallons plus a fuel bladder would give me confidence.

Seas tend to be calmer by mid May but you never know. Especially because I am talking about 2028. It can be delayed for weather but I sure would like to catch the full moon bite.

Does anyone know about Blakes Nose (Spur) fishing?

Weather pattern, wave height, thousands of pounds of fish, stopping and fighting 12 granders, hitting the reef, three kegs of beer, and my 150 ft fuel tender. Wink.

Lots of variables out of your control in that plan.
On another note, we are fishing the Big Rock this year, crew and funds came together last night.
    Kind of excited about it

There was a group a couple years ago that made that run from Charleston. I saw some of the pics on the facepage. They had a hookup with some offshore longliners that were feeding them info. It turned out good, but the margin for error is pretty large out that far.

I always thought I wanted to fish a billfish tournament, until I actually did it. Screw all that tension and seriousness over a fish.

I get the excitement over the tourneys but, fishing for me is a release and fun, if stress is ever involved in it, I'll sell the boat and be done. Glad I'm just a lowly bottom fisherman.
Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn't go so far as to call a dog filthy but they're definitely dirty. But, a dog's got personality. Personality goes a long way.

They are great people and great friends. And they are good at it. I just didn't like the seriousness of it. I understand why, but it just wasn't my thing.

We will have a blast if the weather cooperates, everyone on the boat life long friends since elementary school.
We all talk to each other most days for many years
It's the backyard we grew up in
5 of us, of which one has been a mate on the Morehead water front since he was 16 and fished it many many times, and bill fish mates for a living.
The other won it 10 or 12 years ago while being paid to run someone else's boat.
We draw straws every trip to see the order of who gets in the chair if we hook up.
We going to have fun.........we need pretty weather.
