Planning a trip out of Gtown to Elbow Cay non-stop. 5 am Departure from Gtown to Hole at 27 knots. Troll one hour at Hole.
Then 27 knots to western edge of Gulf current. Troll south 1 hour.
Then run straight 170 miles to Blakes Nose. Arrive 6 PM (3 days before full moon in May) Fish both corners and the tip until dark. It has a cold current at 1000 ft coming up from 15,000 ft with a warm current on top.Nose is 4000 ft that drops into the abyss.
Night troll down the escarpment for 80 miles then finish the troll to Elbow. Arrive at 5.
Nervous about fuel and weather. Supposed to arrive with 13%

Take some bladders, 13% is too close for comfort in my opinion for that much ocean riding.

Yeah, no way I’d cut 13%. Current/wind is wrong for an hour and that margin is shot.
Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn't go so far as to call a dog filthy but they're definitely dirty. But, a dog's got personality. Personality goes a long way.

You’re making a helluva assumption about running 27 knots in May, in the ocean in a cc unless you’ve already upgraded to a sporty. And even then also depending on the wind. But I know you know that.. just not sure why you’re using those numbers with such a slim margin? And do you mean the E or W edge of the Gulf Stream after going to the hole?

Neighbors of mine down there made the run to Charleston in a freeman in 10.5 hours if I remember right. I think they stopped and trolled for an hour or so.
I like American Airlines and trolling within eyesight of the beach, personally.

I meant fish the Hole then the eastern edge.
May need to move up the leave time an hour and back down on the throttle for the run to 25 knots. 50 ft sporty with man 1200s. The 2 knot difference during the runs allows for a fuel savings giving us 21% cushion.
I still may bring more fuel. You never know how much we burn fighting a fish.

AI did not calculate the current tax. Would have been down to 40 gallons, if lucky.
Basically trolling most of the way conserves fuel but reminds me what I told my Dad on our annual Walker Cay to Charleston trips on a sailboat. "Dad, I hope I have enough money to own a faster boat."
