Has anyone trimmed the dead stop on a Yamaha tiller to allow it to hinge down lower while the motor is trimmed all the way down?

A wedge would do the same thing without messing with the stop (if I understand your question).
Are you trying to achieve a more negative trim angle?
A wedge would raise the tiller handle even higher. I need to remove material to lower the tiller handle.
Wedge no beuno.
I have not done it but I've considered it myself. Would have to disassemble the handle from the bracket and take a dremel or a file to it th surfaces that mate together when it's stopped. I'm not looking at my handle right now but I think it's very doable, long as it's done carefully.

That's what I see as well. End of tiller is the same height as my kids head when he sits next to me.
I drilled 2 holes to give me another position... works like a champ but some people may not want to drill through the stop.

My old motor( 2000ish 40) had the stop filed off so the tiller would fold down a bit. After I got used to it, it was great.

Hold on a sec. For clarification, you looking to change the mounting angle where the motor is bolted on, or address the angle at the tiller handle where the tiller itself meets the bracket that attaches it to the motor?

I took a grinder to one and tweaked it until perfect
