the majority of soccer pundits seem to agree that was not a red card foul. another player got his head ripped open by cleats. no red. messi stomps on ankle. no red card.

    etc

Yes, I'm saying that a player that puts that bottom of his cleated boot on another player's calf then slides it down to the player's ankle with enough force to cause the ankle to roll and the player to fall is a serious foul.
google or AI get you this info? look again.

many are saying FIFA shouldnt have used slo-mo in the VAR review bc no red on the field.

google all this by monday for me. TIA

herein lies the problem w soccer. most of the rules are ultimately subjective as to whether something meats certain criteria. In such a low scoring sport the ref has way to much power to control the outcome. Most interviews I see of old time soccer refs they seem to relish the power and control and took pride in targeting certain teams and individuals. If soccer was allowed to "police itself" like other sports the game would be way better. when dirty and cheap play is not called and almost rewarded but a push back in retaliation is cardworthy we have reached the height wussiness. also a "backcourt rule" like in basketball would make it more interesting.

Played in high school many years ago. We ran a mean offsides trap. It was comical how many time we could pull them off sides. Many a player thought they were going to be on a fast break, nope.

Agreed. I could care less about the “futbol”. But, it has been really cool to see the world stage come to the USA and have the time of their lives. The US has done a magnificent job hosting this event and embraced all of the other countries. Cool to see folks from other countries have anxiety about coming here because of what they have heard and begging not to have to leave to go back home. Well done USA

    No cherry picking, comprendo?

This is the best sporting event in the world and this may be the best tournament of our lifetime.
I'm not going to make any sweeping assumptions about your score on the verbal section of the SAT, but, that WR analogy is awful. And, so is offsides in soccer. The defender can actually willfully cause an offsides. And it's stupid. If you don't want an offensive player between you and your precious goal, back up

Watching a good game now and can't figure when it's over. So much flooding on every play. Guy laying on ground like he maybe dead then gets up hauling ass. Weird as shit

Yep - I felt as exhausted as the players once that thing was finally over. Taken in context, that was one of the greatest games every played.

I'm visiting wife's family who are soccer fans. They had the games on while we were all sitting around playing games and talking. I watched about 20 minutes of one game. It wasn't as boring as I thought it would be.

Soccer becomes pretty interesting once you fully understand what an offside is

Without that, it can be frustrating to watch

We watched more today. Having someone there who could answer my questions made it kind of enjoyable. Never thought I would be hollering at a blocked shot or a goal. Guess your never to old to try something new.

i am really gonna miss the World Cup when its over. I even watched the end of the eng-mexico game. amazing soccer being played. its been incredible to watch.

i think 3 seconds in basketball is stupid. two line passes in hockey. penalties in football, etc. offsides is just so simple and I have a hard time wanting to explain it to people that dont want to like soccer. go watch something else. let the rest of the world enjoy this because its pretty darn special.

    USA tonight....Huge game.
