    Default Jump Day

I work a bunch of duck boxes. A lady hit me up a few years ago asking for help with an old box in front of her lake home here on Murray. I made a minor repair this Spring. She sent me this video she shot the other day. Even though survivability to adulthood is hard on these ducklings, getting them out of the box is a start.

It doesn't take much to give mama Wood Duck a helping hand to protect her eggs.

Listen to your elders. Not because they are always right but because they have more experiences of being wrong.

That's cool. Any idea how long before they fly and what the survival rate is up to that point?

Survival is probably 10-15 % on Murray. I fight for shoreline habitat to protect these little guys but dang the idiots that send their yard man into the water to rake and weed eat the shoreline veggies.

    Fledge to fly 7-10 weeks

Blue Herons are the biggest threat to baby wood ducks,... followed by largemouth bass.

Is it normal for them to lay this late
