Did not want to mess up the other watch thread, so decided to start this thread.

Looking for a watch that can handle diesel fuel, oil, grease, and dirt. I can be rough on equipment and anything else so I need something can keep up.
The previous watch was a suunto that apparently got water in it Saturday at the pool.

I need something waterproof, digital, and analog, doesn't have to connect to the phone, it would be nice, just want something that can take a beating for under $100, preferably.

I’ve had a bertucci for 16 years. Never had an issue with it and wear it swimming all summer, drop it at least once a week, get oil on it when I change mine, etc. Boil the band in water and vinegar when it gets sweaty.

New to me. Boil a band in Vinegar to get sweat smells out? and it doesnt smell like vinegar? How much Vinegar?

It’s a nylon band. Not a ton. Vinegar kills the bacteria. Let me rephrase, soak in a vinegar solution then boil. You’ll have to run it under the sink a couple times after that to get the vinegar out but it’s good to go for another few months. Vodka works too.

Luminox, Pulsar, G-Shock. Own all of them, just had to replace batteries in a bunch of Luminox's. I have an old beat to hell Pulsar that I pulled out going through stuff, I haven't worn that watch in 5-6yrs, dang thing was still running. Send me your address and I'll mail you a G-shock I have, needs a battery though, they're tough but the case is just thicker than I like. I prefer a steel band, rubber bands don't last more than a few months for me, cloth ones get stinky but I've never tried the vinegar but they also get stained bad.

I don't go offshore without my g shock. It can give me a lot of info if SHTF. It is bathed in gas,oil, and blood pretty frequently...

$30 Casio off Amazon.... I rarely take mine off. Gas, DEET, chemicals... Casio don't care.

Been really impressed with Garmin Instinct Solar that has kept up with me for 4 years so far


Before this one the toughest I had found was a $20 Casio that looks like a luminox.

ETA:

I broke a band keeper twice and bought a new band. Wash/sanitize my hands about 50-100 times a day at the office. The cleaning solution eats rubber like it's made for it.

I take it off to sleep but other than that it gets worn 16 hours a day, no matter what I'm doing in or out of the office.

I have a Garmin fenix 3 that I purchased in 2015. It has all the smart watch capabilities and heart rate monitor. Even has a gps if i turn it on. I can change the face from digital to analog and can turn features on and off as I like. I think I have everything turned off, except the compass and heart monitor. I have not taken it off other than to charge it. Battery lasts a couple of weeks with features off. It has had salt oil, grease, suntan lotion, Skeeter go, blood, etc.. oh and it gets banged into everything.

Theres a Tag in the gunsafe that it replaced.

I will die with my Garmin Instinct Solar attached to my wrist..hopefully behind bird dogs when I'm 99 years old, and the coyotes or wolves can eat me and choke on that watch.

I was gifted a Garmin Vivoactive 4 nearly three years ago. It has been beaten to hell and back and still does what it's supposed to do. I like it because it syncs with my phone. I can see texts, emails, and calls as they come in, which is extremely helpful.

Based on the feedback in this thread and knowing you would prefer it syncs with your phone, it's worth increasing your budget if you can and buy a new Garmin or find one on Marketplace or somewhere similar.

Whatever choice you make, purchase a screen protector. They are invaluable considering the cost.

I wear a G Shock solar mudman watch. Tough as hell. Not sure of the price but I think it was just a little over $100. Shows temp as well as moonphase. Maybe some other stuff but that's all I ever look at.

I was that way for a long time. I use my watch multiple times an hour at the office when watching the seconds for bonding protocols. I also find it much more efficient checking the time while fishing and hunting.

The dog track feature is instrumental in the woods when you pair with your alpha controller if you run one.

I hated constantly pulling out my phone then getting distracted.
