Someone educate me .... I can figure out the process for getting a can, but I don't have the time to deep dive on the actual cans and find out what will work best for my rifles.

I'd like a can for a .280 and a 7mm08 ... Possibly my 7mm. None of the barrels are threaded, so I'd have to get that done. What's a good mid range can for those three setups?

Makes zero sense. The IA Form 4 was submitted on 1/27 and I'm still waiting. Yet - I got a Form 4 back yesterday for a Dead Air Lazarous 6 that was submitted on 3/2. I'm still waiting on a couple of Form 1's.

What's the scoop on over barrel cans? I have a graphite wrapped, 16" barrelled, bolt .308 rifle that I currently use with a Omega and ASR mount. Since the cost of ownership and wait times for suppressors is better, I'm considering putting a direct thread, full time can on it. It would be great to reduce the overall length and I'd naturally like to keep it as light as possible. Over barrel seems like a good idea.

How do they compare for sound reduction?

Would there be any concern about heat transfer to the graphite outer part of the barrel?

Who makes the one I should be considering?

Reflex cans don't outperform muzzle cans.

The ops inc cans had crappy Poi shift no matter what the fanboys say.

It's a cool idea. I have yet to test one that perfects the idea of needing less inches in front of the muzzle due to more inches behind.

But I own like 27 suppressors and worked in the industry for a few years. Someone who doesn't own a meter or have any experience testing cans will be along shortly to correct me...

IMHO, they seem to be advancing. However, volume is volume. They usually seem to be skinnier than most out there. I still don't think they work better than some of the better offerings on the market (from the limited stuff I've seen).

Would it cook the CF wrap? I guess it depends on how hot you get it. Cans heat up a helluva lot faster than a barrel does. I'd think it may cook it, but that's just a wild-ass guess.

So far, there still seems to be a trade-off somewhere between:
1. Length
2. Weight
3. Sound suppression
4. Gas

It's easy to get two of those that are favorable. Three of those can be obtained, but it narrows the playing field and the price goes up. If ya get all four, you've got a .

Those are the kind of replies I was hoping for. It sounds like I should wait for more progress on the concept. I think it's just a matter of better design because as long as the volume is there, it would seem the gasses could be calmed for good sound dampening and still minimize the overall length of the barrel and can system. I've always tended towards short, compact guns and suppression has pushed me the other direction.

Intergrally suppressed might be the ultimate best design but that will really limit the choices of good, accurate barrels for high powered cartridges.

I finally caved and got one of Innovative Arms integral 22 barrels. However, today marks 60 days waiting on the transfer.

I've shot his 300blk integral, and it is pretty awesome.

When I go pick up my 10/22 barrel, I'm going to try his Bergara 308 integral.

Phillip makes great stuff; pretty sure it'll sound great.

Speaking of integral, I'm waiting on a backorder for a B&T APC9-SD Pro. The SD world is a whole 'nother beast. I'm looking forward to slinging 115gr ammo through a FRT SD weapon and having them be subsonic. I've been stockpiling 9's in anticipation of its arrival.

I have a Gemtech Mist barrel for a 10/22. It's perhaps my favorite gun.

Most of us shooters understand what is meant by "mist" but to the rest of the world, especially the spellchecked challenged, Gemtech couldn't have picked a worse name for a barrel from which anyone would expect accuracy.

It is an integrally suppressed barrel, with many holes along/near the base to let gasses escape to slow the round down.

Basically, I'll be able to shoot 115gr supers to around 900fps.

Aren't you familiar with the MP5-SD? An iconic design that is nearly the standard for all SD's.

I got another Form 4 last week and a F1 this week. Both about the 30 day range on a Trust.

I found out my Innovative Arms integral 10/22 barrel has been approved for quite some time. Today was day 65 of waiting. However, ATF never sent either of us emails. I asked for them to check, and sure enough, G2G.

I'll be picking it up Saturday. Should be pretty cool on my SBR build.
