Interesting move…also apparently rolled out without speaking to the players

I’d like to see someone go to App and not use them as a stepping stone. Cool program that deserves a loyal coach.

He needs to jump back on the 2 WR from Westside and get them back, they de committed when HC was fired. Both are very special talents

Clark was fired, he’s an App alumni and I don’t believe he wanted to leave. Good guy from the interactions I had with him, I coached his son for baseball last year.

You are correct. I was really referring to the couple of guys before him. But, you are right.

My opinion, any coach that comes to App or any similar school is behind the 8 ball. Even if you get some good players in, they’re transferring to a major D1 after they have one good season. Basically rebuilding or depending on unproven talent every year.

I’m fine with kids getting paid, but the free transfer rule is hurting the most (in my opinion).

I am glad to see that App got some new blood. My son camped there last summer and he said that the OC/QB coach was the biggest A-hole he has had the pleasure of working with.

The transfer portal works in two directions. For all of the kids entering the portal, trying to find greener pastures and a payday, there are as many kids getting kicked out of D1 schools “dropping” to App State and similar schools. I know of kids that were at D1 schools that were told to pack their bags to make room for incoming transfers. The transfer portal is how college coaches will manage their rosters.

A school like App State could get them going in both directions. They could be the place to start and let them move up, as well as a place where a good athlete that got bumped could drop to.

There are now schools that are only recruiting 5-10 kids from high school and getting everyone else in the portal. Add that to the fact that most schools will end walk-ons this year and it is the absolute worst time to be a high school player working for a scholarship.

Shit its about that way for all schools now, a constant revolving door. You dont know the team members from year to year.

Im not sure what the turn over distance would be between a major school and someone like App State. May be a lot more coming and going at the smaller school.
