    Default Anal Bead Question

Picked up a brand new A300 a couple of weeks ago. Finally got to shoot it last weekend, and the screw-on bead is loose. When I hand-tighten it back to snug, the bead isn't parallel with the barrel; it's at more of like a 45° angle. How do I correct this issue? Thanks in advance.

You really ought to take a lesson or two while you're still a new wingshooter. It will keep you from develping bad habits and you'll pick up a few tips that will make huge differences. My first epiphany from my first lesson was to mount the gun to my face and not worry about my shoulder. It will come to the shoulder on its own. If you don't get it to your face, your sight picture is wrong. It made an big, instant difference for me.
All this. There are folks on here that are exponentially more qualified than I, but this is my thought process. I took a lesson at the Sea Island shooting school (because golf sucks) and all of their Berettas had the beads knocked off for this very reason.

Bart, I found multiple places online that talk about that bead and how to secure it. A small flathead seemed to be the right tool.

To PB's comments, I would say the bead is a matter of personal preference. Set that up however you'd like, or take it off, and move on.

Also, this notion of visually abandoning the gun in the process of shooting a target can lead people down the wrong path. From a practical standpoint, understanding barrel awareness, knowing when to use it, and how to dial it up and down is a valuable tool that many shooters do not understand. And that's okay. Not everyone has aspirations to become a shooting champion...or even halfway decent based on what I've seen.

If a shooter doesn't see the gun with the target, how can he move the gun with the target?

'Preciate the feedback, y'all. I've taken a lesson at Backwoods, but I would certainly benefit from another session. The picture shows the bead in the tightened position. @Fish, hand-tightening feels sufficient to secure it, and no tool is necessary.

Remove it and put a dab of red loctite on the threads. Then, screw it in and back a little to straighten it and let it sit a couple of days without messing with it.
    That's what I'd do anyway.

I replaced mine with a MUCH smaller brass bead. The one that came on my a300 was huge and very distracting. I have never seen a bead that big on a shotgun outside of a turkey specific gun.
You may be better off just buying a replacement bead anyway. Ebay for less than 10$ shipped.

Apparently you’re not supposed to pull it like starting a chainsaw either.

    Unsavory.
Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn't go so far as to call a dog filthy but they're definitely dirty. But, a dog's got personality. Personality goes a long way.

This is probably the route I'm gonna take.

The little orange insert fell out mine. It was a blessing. When I look down barrel now I see a hole with daylight in the center. I like it.

Some people prefer several beads it helps them make sure the barrel is leveled.
