My 7 year old daughter has been talking with me about wanting to shoot a turkey this season. I’ve been explaining to her the boxes that she needs to check before I will feel comfortable taking her, so she has been shooting cans and pumpkins with the mossberg .410 each time we go to the farm. She has been spot on, so we decided to give it a go with the wood ducks on Saturday morning.
Her mother and my almost 4 yo son sat close by to watch and she handled it all like a pro. She sat in my lap in a turkey chair, I took the safety off, and she handled the rest. The first drake lit about 15 yards and she smashed him. Same with the second. She is trying hard to follow in the footsteps of her hero (Cali’s daughter Jane), and is well on her way. I couldn’t be more proud of her spirit and her hard work.
Pretty cool day for our family.
Head, I’ll see you this week
