Besides backwoods. Where around the Lowcountry are some good quail hunting operations?

There’s a place near Swansea. Can’t remember the name
Spring grove shooting preserve near St Stephens, sporting clays, quail, pheasant and chukar- overnight accommodations in the lodge. If you want a great outlaw redneck guide, get Doug, if you want a old retired cop- get Bo.
We usually do the combo hunt of all 3 birds.

If tamie duck hunting is anything like tamie quail hunting, why no bitching about the tamie quail operations? Backwoods is where I went.
Low country redneck who moved north
There's also a spot near Society Hill. Ducks, deer, pigs and quail.
It's not enough to simply tolerate the 2nd Amendment as an antiquated inconvenience. Caring for the 2nd Amendment means fighting to restore long lost rights.
Not in the Lowcountry but Palmetto Quail Club in Pamplico is a great option. Full disclosure this is my uncle's place. However that being said, his is the closest I've seen to hunting wild birds. He uses flushing dogs in conjunction with his pointers and setters and I've seen how that makes a big difference in how the birds fly. I would not recommend any place that didn't use flushing dogs since hunting with them.

Best operation around the low country in my opinion, is Turkey Hill. This isn't a sling 'em around in a croaker sack type of operation. Closest I have found to the wilds hunts we did growing up.
I shoot pen raised birds in hunt tests and it is fun, but hunting wild birds is a totally different experience for the hunter and the dogs.
If it ain\'t accurate at long distance, then the fact that it is flat shooting is meaningless.

The very existence of flame-throwers proves that some time, somewhere, someone said to themselves, You know, I want to set those people over there on fire, but I'm just not close enough to get the job done.
There is nothing worse than a kick and shoot.

Billy Rhoad in Bamberg if that is any closer to you
Thanks for the help. I’ll look into these.

Kenny Lucas has a great operation. I hunted with him last week and do several times a year. His dogs are top notch pointers. They don’t stick around if they can’t hunt Texas for him. You’ll hunt around 200 acres of fields hedgerows and pines. He early releases a good many birds plus your allotment for the day. It’s about as close as you can get to a wild bird hunt. His birds are outstanding for tame birds. He raises his birds in a chicken house. I buy around 500 a year from him for my personal use. If you want to hunt with him though you better do in now or December. He goes to Texas in January and February to hunt wild birds. He has his preserve license so he can do hunts in March if it’s not to hot by then. Hope that helps.

Here are some pictures of his dogs and the terrain you’d be hunting. The last picture is from last week. The GSP is mine. He only hunts pointers
On many occasions I have had birds that not only survived a release but coveyed up and thrived. There’s 3 coveys I know of on our club in Gtown that were started on release birds. Does it always happen, nope but occasionally it does.
My dad and I use to work our dogs on a place in Grey Court when I lived in the upstate. Use to get Wisconsin giants IIRC from a guy up there. I’d work the dogs and let my dad shoot but as he got older, he wasn’t a very good shot so he missed a lot. Those missed birds coveyed up too. One day we pulled the truck up and Ike my male GSP jumped out of the truck and flipped around in mid air, I swear that dog locked up on point in mid air because when he landed he was frozen. My female Abby was locked up standing on the back seat. My dad went to step out of the truck and about 15 birds blew up at his feet. He couldn’t shoot, he didn’t even have a gun. I’ll never forget the look Ike gave him. It was like look dad, that was some acrobatic shit I did locking up on point in mid air and sticking the landing, least you could do is shoot.
Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn't go so far as to call a dog filthy but they're definitely dirty. But, a dog's got personality. Personality goes a long way.

There’s a place in Moree and there’s also Chigger Grove near Andrews. B
