Default 6.5 Ruger 1 Chopped and Suppressed

I can honestly say I have never even heard of a suppressed Ruger No. 1. It's sexy.

Here's a link to guy's blog with the build.

I don't see the point. I love a No.1 but they can be finicky as hell on ammo. The 7mmRM I have was a PITA to work a load up for but I eventually got it, still needs a trigger job though. Had an International in '06, damn gun was minute of pie plate, gave up on it and sold it.
Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn't go so far as to call a dog filthy but they're definitely dirty. But, a dog's got personality. Personality goes a long way.

He truly screwed up a great gun. It looks to be coated, the forearm reshaped and obviously the buttstock altered, what is the purpose of the can?

I’ve shot it, it’s a good friends of mine. Shot .57” at 100 if I remember correctly. Feels great and balanced perfectly. I have the exact scope and love it. He did well with the build to say the least.

I enjoyed the article. To me thats exactly what guns are about....doing what you want to your rifle. I think the gun looks great.

Agree completely biggie. To each their own. I guarantee any naysayers would change their opinion if they picked it up and shot it. Ruger #1’s aren’t “rare” or that special and by in large don’t shoot that great. His goal was sub-1.5 MOA groups and more than achieved it with just the first type of ammo tried.

Exactly. It's not like a Ruger No. 1 is some rare vintage gun that can't be replaced. By doing the work he made the gun the way he wanted it not the way someone else wanted. He made it uniquely his. He actually took an average everyday mass produced firearm and made it into an heirloom for his kids and grandkids.

If you have to ask you wouldn't understand.

    Made to be uniquely his.........

If it ain\'t accurate at long distance, then the fact that it is flat shooting is meaningless.

I think you missed the point. You can have an opinion on whether you like it or not. But you can't compare that Camaro to the Ruger No. 1.

The guy with that Camaro is spending money he probably doesn't have to impress people he doesn't know. In 5 years the Camaro will be worth very little, especially compared to what he has in it. Yet even in 80 years the gun will be worth many times what he spent on the build. By that time the Camaro will have come back recycled many times as Teslas or Budweiser cans. You and I may not like the car but it's his, so what we like doesn't really matter.

The guy with the gun built it for himself, not to impress other people and not for looks. His kids and grandkids (or someones) will eventually end up with the gun. Had your father or grandfather built it you would be ready to fight someone who talked trash about it.

Certainly not for looks, agreed there. But I would say "blogging" about it is an attempt to impress others.

    From the blog:

The gun will probably be polarizing to most people, but that is OK with me. There are plenty of unmolested No. 1’s in the marketplace waiting to be had. I suspect my next No. 1 will likely be a bone stock, old, red pad 25-06. In the end, I could not be happier with the result. I got the gun I always wanted from my childhood, updated to reflect the technology of today with a feature set that I know I will enjoy for years to come.
