    Default 2016 Ford Ecoboosts

My little car is starting to become more of a problem than a helper on saving money because it's starting to be in the shop more than on the road. So I'm starting to consider different options. The option I'm leaning towards is selling both my car and my Z71 and getting a brand new pick up. Being as my last three trucks have been Chevrolet, I've decided to mix it up a notch and started looking at the Fords. My question is concerning the two Ecoboosts they are now offering. The 2.7 vs the 3.5. Has anyone had any dealings with the newer ones(KRT). I know some of the earlier Ecos had some problems but I think they've been worked out. Any help is appreciated. Thanks guys.

I have a 2013 F150 with the 3.5 and I absolutely love it. Zero problems so far. I tow a 38' camper that has 3 slides and weighs about 8K with no problem at all. I was a Chevy man until I bought this truck, I will never own another Chevy as of now.

What kinda fuel economy you get pulling it?

Why not look at the Titan XD or RAM Ecodiesel if you're interested in fuel mileage or the diesel Colorado/Canyon?
Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn't go so far as to call a dog filthy but they're definitely dirty. But, a dog's got personality. Personality goes a long way.

The 2.7 eco has the the auto shutdown feature in it, meaning when the truck stops moving it shut off. There are ways to prevent it, just keep that in mind on the 2.7,s

You will get all kinds of opinions

Get the 5.0 if you plan on staying in this truck past 100K

And the 5.0 gets about the same mileage.

3.5's do as well. There is a switch to bypass this "fuel saving" saving feature.

I'm curious as to why? I don't disagree, just curious.

I was no impressed with the fuel mileage on my 2011 Ecoboost.
It was a 4 door with 3.73 axle ratio, 4x4, level kit and slightly larger tires.
I was probably the reason it only got about 14-15 on daily driving.
It never got the advertised MPG unless I was driving down Hwy 25 to Greenwood.

I'm not here to bash, all of them have there problems. I've put two timing chains in 11-13 models for rattle on cold start up, all kinds of PCV issues and gunk on the intake valves.

5.0 has been around forever, a tried and true engine with about the same mileage..... no brainer to me.

    Turbo,

Basically I personally nor professionally would want a turbo engine for the soul fact of oiling issues, the PCV system, and the intake valves getting gunked up.

Diesels are a whole different game.

The turbo inline Cummins 6 cyl is the best diesel on the planet

That 3.73 was not helping you either. No matter how dressed up these trucks are nowadays, they are still trucks and consequently, they get lousy mileage.

Ford should of just stuck with the old 300 straight 6, that was a good motor.
