    Default Pre/Post Workout Fuel

Is there some sort of drink (protein powder, etc.) that is good for this sort of thing? Like an hour before a workout and/or right after a workout. After I finish the WOD I am usually gassed and ready for something to eat. Looking for a healthier alternative to refuel instead of pigging out at Chick-fil-A like a fat kid eating cake.

Prefer something that I can get locally and is fairly economical.

Give me some suggestions, thank ye kindly.

Pre is all about energy. Almonds, avocado, whole milk, sweet potato

Post is all about protein. Beef, pork, chicken, protein shake, etc

+7g of your choice of protein (ie lean meat), some clean carbs and another 1/2 avacado (ie lean meat) after your workout.

However, I try to snack throughout the day on nuts/seeds and a little fruit and then stick to a protein shake after my workout. I, then, have a meal when I get home for dinner.

I tend to eat very targeted these days based on what is programmed. And if I fail to eat or eat enough because I'm too busy at work or some such bullshit, I don't go to the gym. This isn't necessarily a good thing.

I find that all of them suck for one reason or another (flavor, content, flat out shitty).

My favorite, so far, has been the chocolate Isopure. TONS of protein. Decent quality. Decent flavor (I hate a super sweet shake).

I try not to get too crazy with the diet. I try to eat plenty and as clean as possible without driving myself crazy. I "cheat" some, but don't get all bent out of shape about it. However, I certainly don't have the body that some of my super clean buddies have. I also love beer. And bourbon. A lot.

    Priorities...

I do try to tell people that clean eating is the best way to go. The zone program seems to be the best that I've found (based on Paleo stuff). If you're looking for gains, you're just gonna have to eat. That's all there is to it. You're going to have to eat clean. You're going to have to eat more than you've ever eaten before. And you're going to have to be disciplined.

I'm just not that into it.

I'm getting stronger. I'm getting faster. My love handles are going away.

    I'm happy.

Its "Six Star" same thing i use.
My Pre consists of my scoop of Taze-3 and a scoop of "Fortify" which is like 30 grams of carbs. Then post is the protein and another scoop of "Fortify", its tasteless so you can put it in anything. Ive put on 7 pounds in the past week of muscle already, 188 up to 195.

Just talk to Paul. He has all the answers you need. What he will tell you is mostly along the same lines as what Turbo and Fish have said. I am getting going on his nutrition program and alot of it is healthy proteins before and after workouts.

Maybe I misunderstood what you wrote, but there ain't no way short of steroids that you put on 7 pounds of muscle in a week. 7 pounds maybe, but not 7 pounds of muscle

Cellucor Protein mixed with water and 6 egg whites for breakfast. Two scoops of C4 Extreme Pre-Workout with a scoop of Cellucor Creatine after cardio. Hit weights for 1-1½ hours. After workout is another shake.
