    Default Pee Dee River Flooding

Went this am to check my feeders before work. Damn, I forgot to bring waders. It's out the bank and I waded in chest deep water in places to retrieve my cameras and feeders. I had to use a boat to get one out. If you got anything down in the swamp, it may be too late to retrieve it. I feel sorry for the turkey nests and baby fawns. I heard one baaaing for it's mother out in the swamp in a tree top. I tried to get to it but the water got over my head. Made me sick.

I hunted one of Marcus' swamps a few years ago above Lowther's Lake when the water was up. You usually had to walk about 100 yards, across part of the dam, and then wade into waist deep water about 30 yards to where I hunted. It had been raining a lot and the river was up, I walked 20 yards and hit water. Helluva current going through there. I bet it was atleast 15 feet deep where it's usually only 3'. I couldn't even make it into the actual swamp. That river doesn't play around when it comes out of the banks.

I just left from under the bridge at the hot spot in Marion. Let me tell you river is hualing ass and tons of logs moving in the water. we where there for about the hour and the water came up over 8 inches.. had we waited any longer we may not have made it out.

Says your area's in the 7th to 90th percentile, CD. I'd hate to see 100.

Seems like I remember it hitting 23 ft several years ago. We may get there again.

I am praying for a 21 foot river flood on the Congaree this year. It will wipe the hogs out...
