I've seen several goals during this thing get waved off due to "offsides" which I still don't understand and still think is stupid.

A lot of those posts are by the same people over and over(eating bbq, walmart, buckees, etec).

They are accumulating clicks to pay for their trip.

Bill Mayer does have a good take on America.

Yep, to the point of being almost scary...
Disagree 100%. He was simply landing. He wasn't looking down- he was looking forward. He had no idea where he was landing.

Yeah but he knew that soft spongy thing 18" above the turf wasn't the turf. He might have not intended to land there but he did put enough weight on it after he landed to buckle the guy's ankle. These guys are professional athletes not some clumsy middle schoolers.

If they would wave that checkered yellow flag more often, they would pick up a million or so Nascar fans.

seriously? now you're saying "he stepped too hard?" leave that one be. you're not the type who changes his mind when others show you reason.

it was not intentional. ergo, no red.

i am guessing you are talking about the sideline refs? the ones that signal offsides? I dont think they are checkered?!?
for some of you (especially old people like CD) maybe its just easier that you live out the rest of your life without knowing what offsides is....bc its really not that hard to understand but many of you are challenged by it.

so when they draw that line on the screen showing where each player was in relation to the end line, you still cant get it?
    i worry about you sometimes....

I mean, I "get" it. I just think it's the other teams responsibility to take away those passing lanes and play defense if they don't want that guy to have the ball.

Similar to hockey, a player can't be offsides in their half of the field aka pitch. Similar to football, the WR3 can't run down the field before the ball is snapped to receive a pass. Similar to bowling, in offsides VAR you can't go OVER THE LINE!

    No cherry picking, comprendo?

This is the best sporting event in the world and this may be the best tournament of our lifetime.

I agree with Glenn. Just like basketball on a breakaway or what is called snowbirding.

I don't know what was in Balogun's heart and neither do you. I do know that "intentional" is not in the FIFA Laws. Law 12 says a player can be sent off (shown a red card) for a "serious foul play". Yes, I'm saying that a player that puts that bottom of his cleated boot on another player's calf then slides it down to the player's ankle with enough force to cause the ankle to roll and the player to fall is a serious foul.
