    Default looking

Looking for me a new bow. Got several gift cards to Cabelas for Christmas and my birthday and they will probably all go towards a new bow. Any suggestions on bows that they have available (quest, diamond, PSE). I'll probably try to shoot one somewhere before I order one.

Prefer under $500 and going for a package deal unless someone can convince me otherwise. Thanks.

For $500 I would try the Outlaw. If you want to spend a little more, the Deadeye.

For $500 or less I would either go with the PSE brute or the Bow madness. Both bows are very smooth for the economic budget. My buddy has had a brute for 3 years and will never buy another bow. The brute can come fully loaded for under $500.

Buy your bow local. Use your gift cards for your accessories.

I know that most bow shops will charge you every time you bring your bow in unless you buy from them. Plus you are supporting a local business. Buy local and help the community !!!!

Call Anthony's Archery and tell him you have $500 to spend. Tell him you want the best package you can get for the money. I garrantee he will get you hooked up with some good equipment. That is what I would do.

I have a PSE BowMadness XS and love it. Short axle-to-axle allows you to take it and accurately/comfortably use it anywhere. Not to mention it's one of the smoothest bows I've ever shot, including Mathews and Hoyt.

    Another vote for Anthony's.

I've bought a bow from Hootie's down near Aiken too. He kept the shop open late for me since he knew I had a drive ahead of me.

I wouldn't trust much advice from a box store archery tech. You really need to go shoot a bunch and see what feels the best for you. Draw cycle, draw curve, etc.

    Good luck!

    Thanks guys!

Probably going to buy locally (probably Hooties, since they are not far from the house and everyone around here seems to like them) or from someone off of the site. After thinking on it I'm going probably get a used one for my first and learn my way up. I'll use the gift cards for accessories or something else.
