Default Delta Force MSG killed at Bragg

Delta Force member found dead at Ft. Bragg training site had a dark past

Fort Bragg officials announced that the Master Sgt. William J. Lavigne II and Timothy Dumas, a veteran previously stationed at the post, were found dead at a training site on the base Wednesday afternoon.

Lavigne was assigned to Headquarters and Headquarters Company, U.S. Army Special Operations Command, officials said in a news release Friday, but an Army source speaking to Connecting Vets on the condition of anonymity confirmed that he was a member of B-Squadron, Special Forces Operational Detachment-Delta, commonly known as Delta Force.

The circumstances under which Lavigne and Dumas died are currently being investigated by the Army's Criminal Investigations Division (CID).

However, Lavigne has some dark moments in his past, including the killing of a fellow soldier in 2018.

Sgt. 1st Class Mark Daniel Leshikar enlisted in the Army in 2009 and joined Special Forces a few years later, assigned to A/Co 1st Battalion 19th Special Forces Group (Airborne) as a weapons sergeant. He deployed to Afghanistan in 2015 and Tajikistan in 2017.

At some point he became close friends with Lavigne according to Leshikar's sister Nicole Rick.

On March 21, 2018, Leshikar and Lavigne got into an altercation. Lavigne locked Leshikar out of the house, but his young daughter unlocked the door for him. Back inside the residence, the two confronted one another, ending when Lavigne allegedly shot and killed Leshikar.

"William told me that my brother had a screw driver but nothing was found at the scene. William was never drug tested and no real investigation was ever held," Rick said. "Army investigators told us that William was being processed out of the military but based on the Army’s statement thats seems false."

A spokesperson for USASOC confirmed that Lavigne is in fact the same individual who was investigated for killing Leshikar in 2018.

Read the book "All Secure". You'll get a glimpse of the violence these guys see and how difficult it would be to go back to living normal life.

Fort Bragg paratrooper found dead in North Carolina was decapitated, autopsy says
    DECEMBER 7, 2020 / 3:22 PM / CBS/AP

An autopsy has found that a Fort Bragg soldier found dead this summer on North Carolina's Outer Banks was decapitated. The Raleigh News & Observer reports that Spc. Enrique Roman-Martinez's death was a homicide, but the cause of death remains undetermined because only his head was available for examination, according to the Division of Forensic Pathology at East Carolina University's Brody School of Medicine.

    FORT BRAGG
"While decapitation is, in and of itself, universally fatal, the remainder of the body in this case was not available for examination, and therefore potential causes of death involving the torso and extremities cannot be excluded," the report states.

Among the findings: "Evidence of multiple chop injuries of the head" and a jaw broken in at least two places, the report says.

Roman-Martinez was a paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne Division. He was reported missing May 23, while on a Memorial Day weekend camping trip with friends at Cape Lookout National Seashore.

Roman-Martinez, 21, was a native of Chino, California.

A $25,000 reward has been offered for tips leading to an arrest and conviction in the case, the Army says. To date, no arrests have been announced.

"All he wanted was to do good in his life, so he joined the military," his sister Griselda Martinez told CBS Los Angeles in August. "And this is what happened to him? We only have a part of him, that's it. This is not right. This should never have happened to my brother."

This was the big deal while I was in Germany in the '90s.

    APRIL 2, 199412 AM
    FROM REUTERS
HANAU, Germany — A U.S. Army sergeant who decapitated his wife’s lover and brought the head to her hospital bedside was found guilty of premeditated murder by a military court Friday.
A jury of four officers and three non-commissioned officers deliberated less than two hours before reaching the guilty verdict on Sgt. Stephen Schap, 26, of Baltimore.

Schap, who faces a mandatory life sentence under U.S. military justice, sat ramrod straight and showed little emotion as the court martial’s verdict was read.

In early December, Schap figured out that his wife, Diane, was pregnant by his best friend, Spec. Gregory Glover, 21, of Phoenix. He found Glover, and stabbed and beheaded him with an eight-inch military knife.

Witnesses testified that he kicked the head several times to sever it completely from Glover’s body, then picked it up and said: “This is what you get for adultery.”

Schap then carried the bloodied head in a sports bag emblazoned with the logo “Head” to a hospital where his 26-year-old wife was undergoing emergency gynecological treatment, prosecutors told the court.

Diane Schap, who confirmed that she is pregnant by Glover, said in halting testimony earlier this week that her husband entered her hospital room, set the head on a bedside table and said, “Look Diane, Glover’s here. He’ll sleep with you every night, only you won’t sleep at night.”

From the outset of the trial, Schap had admitted the killing, but he denied that he had planned the attack and pleaded not guilty to premeditated murder.

The Schaps were in the process of separating when Glover was killed.
