Anybody know a local SC carver?

Be proactive about improving public waterfowl habitat in South Carolina. It's not going to happen by itself, and our help is needed. We have the potential to winter thousands of waterfowl on public grounds if we fight for it.
PM me and I can send you a contact number for a local guy.
There’s a guy on that how to kill a king video that’s from sc that carved decoys he hunted and guided over in Alaska
Working decoys?
Shoot Gunning Bird a PM. He can probably put you in touch with someone.
You looking to learn to carve or buy some sc decoys?
I want some decoys made to hunt over.

Bog, you need to find some old Herters, restle coat them, slap some Autumn Wings heads on them and commence to killing ducks over them. We just did about 6 dozen. Fairly easy process and they look dang good.
I’d love to - but all I can seem to find is the smaller herters divers.

I did 1 goose and it looks great but it is signed by ME 1 of 1. It stays in our bedroom. Never again. takes a lot of time. This was 35 years ago
Gettin old is for pussies! AND MY NEW TRUE people say like Capt. Tom >>>>>>>>>/
"Wow, often imitated but never duplicated. No one can do it like the master. My hat is off to you DRDUCK!"
This fella now owns Homer Decoys. I think they make some magnum decoys you can restle coat and paint.

It's rewarding killing over decoys you had a hand in making
Listen to your elders. Not because they are always right but because they have more experiences of being wrong.

You can buy burlaped bodies or just plane foam bodies from these guys. I’ve got some of their puddle duck decoys and really like them. The bodies are larger than Herter 72’s. I also like the heads they sell and put on the bodies.

You need to talk to Russ. He isn’t working for Charlie on St. Paul anymore, from what I heard. I’ve got a Barrow’s Goldeneye he did a few years ago. He does some nice birds.
Do it yourself it ain’t hard
cut\'em
Bogster check your pm's.
1. Get a pencil and start drawing ducks (heads, bills, eyes, feather patterns etc.).
2. Try to find some pattern books by Pat Godin.
3. Try to find someone local whose work you like/respect and see if they will mentor you.
4. Go to some regional decoy shows like East Carolina Wildlife Festival (in little Washington, NC next month) to meet some carvers and ask questions.
Why you gotta make it sound so difficult?
1. Get a block of wood
2. Cut everything off the block that doesn’t look like a duck.
