Good point Palmetto Bug. Just think about all the dogs you know that have their handlers trained.

Excellent post Lab. I'd always trained my dogs myself. I've had some decent retrievers in the process. I used a pro this time and the results are nothing short of amazing.
No you don't have to have a field trials dog to have a great retriever but I'll take a dog like that over one that breaks, doesn't have drive and one that will quit a hunt, every time. I use Rhett because he gets results and will be honest with you as to what he feels like your dog can accomplish. I look at it like this, if a trainer isn't running competitions and consistently passing a large majority of the dogs in hunt tests, I don't consider them to be any more than an obedience trainer at best. There are many good trainers, just not many around here.

A well trained dog gets your dead birds and no one else's.
Either write things worth reading, or do things worth writing.
I have heard good stuff about Webfoot in Holly Hill SC. Have any of you guys used them?

Delta in a nutshell: Breeding grounds + small wetlands + big blocks of grass cover + predator removal + nesting structures + enough money to do the job= plenty of ducks to keep everyone smiling!

Thanks for the info island guy. Sending my girl there next week. Finally saved up enough cash to send her to a pro.
