Default Rattlesnake bites off Marine's leg

Oklahoma Marine loses limb in wildlife attack

    POSTED 2:51 PM, FEBRUARY 17, 2015, BY DALLAS FRANKLIN & KFOR-TV

FORT SILL, Okla. – An Oklahoma Marine remains in critical condition after losing his leg in a wildlife attack.

According to KSWO, a lieutenant was hiking with two classmates at the Wichita Wildlife Refuge when a rattlesnake, which was described as 6 to 8 feet long, bit the soldier on his calf.

The two classmates quickly took action. They called EMS and carried the victim to a nearby parking lot.

The lieutenant was then flown to a nearby hospital where his leg was amputated. He remains in critical condition.

Officials say this is the first reported snake bite injury to a service member this year.

Global warming = no cold, hibernation period = snakes and bears and other deadly hibernators are active year round posing a constant threat to human life (and limb. Certainly no pun or joke intended).

Well that's just great. Bears. Now you are putting the whole station in jeopardy.

    I hated Ft Sill.

Was it because of all the winterized deadly snakes?

Be proactive about improving public waterfowl habitat in South Carolina. It's not going to happen by itself, and our help is needed. We have the potential to winter thousands of waterfowl on public grounds if we fight for it.
