Pheasants
Got out again with Frank. He's now 2.5 and today showed he's really starting to figure it out. He hunted hard, held points great, and even learned how to handle running birds. He is usually a 50 yard range dog, but today I had a youth with me and held with in 30 and kept circling back to the kid to lick his hand as to say hurry up and let's go. Finished with 3, should've had our 4 man limit.

“… duckhunting stands alone as an outdoor discipline. It has a tang and spirit shared by no other sport—a philosophy compounded of sleet, the winnow of unseen wings, and the reeks of marsh mud and wet wool. No other sport has so many theories, legends, casehardened disciples and treasured memories.”
--John Madson, The Mallard, 1960
"Never trust a duck hunter who cares more about his success than his dog's."
