Is browntop a "grass" or a "broadleaf" for the purposes of herbicide use?
Is there any herbicide (pre-plant or over-the-top) that can safely be used with browntop?
I can't really tell from the labels.
Thanks!

use 2,4-d to tackle any broadleaf problems, millet is a grass.
and i wouldnt fool with the expense of a preemergent, browntop will just about outdo all other grasses.
Browntop will outcompete just about everything else out there. I'd be surprised if you have any trouble with broadleafs in your millet.
2,4 D will fix it if you do, but I wouldn't waste my money.

well of course dont use it if you dont need it, but he was asking if you could.
and pigweed will straight up dominate some browntop if rain is limited, which it usually is.
It's in the grass family.
Atrazine will help with broadleafs, it can also be sprayed over the top. I usually spray right on the dirt after planting and before any seeds start germinating.
Thanks! That's what I needed to know.

Sorry Sport Wood.......
I'll leave it to the experts, I'm just a certified wildlife biologist and a board registered toxicologist........atrazine is some nasty stuff.

sometimes being certified doesnt remove the dumbass in us.
he didnt ask if it needed it, he asked if he COULD use it.
i minored in wildlife biology so i could drink more.
You got a recipe for sandspurs?
atrazine
Ugh. Stupid people piss me off.
if not paraquat (sp?)
Ugh. Stupid people piss me off.
I would listen to Catdaddy, sounds like he knows what he is talking about. 2th if the sandspur is growing in the millet the paraquat will not be kind to the millet. 2th are you board certified? JK. What is it about wildlife folks that make them fancy themselves as agronomists?
Paraquat= Gramoxone (very dangerous to handle)
Buckshot, I think you may be talking about Prowl. Poast is a grass herbicide and would likely kill the hay crop plus it is not yellow. Prowl (pendimethyline) is a preemergent herbicide and is yellow and does stain everything. They say prowl h20 is supposed to be less staining but in my experience it still leaves most things it touches yellow.
definetly not post
2,4-d is what I use on my millet...
i was kidding about the agent orange....
poast we have used is definitely yellow...or orange.
Ugh. Stupid people piss me off.
