Default Kyle Busch fixin to break King Richard Pettys record

Lots of talk comparing the 2- Petty's record is padded with over half being on local short/dirt tracks against suspect competition, and a good many more were against cars that had trouble just finishing races much less being competitive( winning by 6 laps etc.). One win was on a 2/10th mile track and numerous had less than 20 cars in the race

Kyle's wins were all in Nascars top 3 series against good drivers with competitive equipment. No Columbia speedway dirt track wins

Put aside your personal hatred for Kyle- how do these 2 records compare.

I think Kyle is the new King- he may reach 300 before he retires.

KB and Petty shouldnt be compared. Complete different eras. KB can flay drive anything on wheels, he is passionate about it. I enjoy watching him race. He will easily go down as one of the greatest. He is much better than JR could ever dream of being.

Yes one series not 200 wins combined from 3 series. Then we can compare how long certain races were way back when and so on.

So- you guys on the Petty train think a victory at the Greenville 1/2 mile dirt track against 12 other cars should count against what Kyle has raced against?

Even Tony Stewart said Kyle was the baddest MF'er on 4 wheels.

This. Like watching him drive, but don’t like hearing him talk or whine.

Yep. Sorta like when professional drivers are considered athletes BECAUSE they drive a car.

Good buddy of mine is CFO for KBM.... apparently he can tough as hell to deal with but as passionate as they come about racing of all kinds and a very shrewd businessman.

Cars with no safety concerns built in, working on them all night and racing guys like Junior Johnson and Fireball Roberts.
    Busch, please...

I will agree with this, no way KB is in the same league as Richard Petty, Jr Johnson, Fireball and others but for todays driver he is a throwback to what NASCAR WAS and SHOULD BE. We need more fights on back stretch of Daytona and drivers to quit worrying about damn championship points. I recall days when Cale would go out of a race and you would see him on top of his hauler drinking beer and having fun

I agree but even Petty made comment that lot of his wins came on weeknights at local tracks with very little competition

Still Richard will always be THE KING of NASCAR. One of those that got it in the spotlight

Yeah, I wonder if Kyle could tune a quadrajet and replace a crankshaft hours before the drop of the green?
