Default Is it dangerous to smoke meat over Peachwood...

...if the peachwood was personally chipped for me by a beaver? Thoughts or concerns?

Probably fine but I think I would have to pass.
If you really wanted to use it maybe soak it and dry it prior to use to try to clean it some?

    Depends on the beaver.

Maybe its just me, but I would prefer to not cool with something that I know has been in a rodents mouth. Why not just cut some for yourself off the tree that is damaged?

I was kind'a joking when I started this because I think most of the disease carrying potential of rodents has to do with what comes out of the back end. I'd bet there's rodent poop and saliva in most of the commercial wood used for smoking especially if there's any pieces of bark. We cook over open fires without fear using whole stems that squirrels have peed on and pooped on and drug their nuts over (pun intended). I think I'll be fine but that might be famous last words too...that wood has been washed with rain and sat in the sun for about a week since it was cut.

Orderly fellows too - they're going row by row, right to left, and they've just started their fourth row...

Regardless of the ready-made smoke wood, I'll shot one on sight if I get the chance but ain't mad enough yet to have to learn how to trap.

I would think it would only be dangerous for the beaver.

Retribution for the beaver I mean...

Shit like this is where food allergies come from......

Cook with the stuff if you want to. Do you think most all of the commercially available smoking woods you can buy don't come out of rat infested places before you buy them?

Doesnt FIRE kill all this stuff?

    Burn it.

Wood comes from Trees.....Trees come from the forest......Critters live in the forest.

I would consider stuff out of the woods cleaner than stuff out of the city.
