    Default chicken question

got a couple of hens acting funny. sitting on nests like waiting on them to hatch. bossy mean bitches, too. try to peck at you when i just want the damn eggs under em....if there are any. I've seen them sitting on jack shit.

any way to deter this behavior?

My grandparents had a big chicken yard - Ma'ma called them "settin' hens". She's simply reach under them, grab their legs and sling them across the chicken yard. She wasn't trying to teach them or reason with them, just trying to get the eggs. After a few days, they'd go back to normal, as I recall...

My mom reported similar experiences with hens when she was a child.

Wear longsleeves and gloves, if you must. Hens aren’t changing.

She's broody. Keep kicking her off of the nest. If she keeps acting broody, isolate her in one of these for a day or two.

Walk through chicken house with a large butcher knife! Do this often! If hens do not lay more eggs - use large butcher knife!!! Really very simple!!!! LOL

I'd try to coax that weird ass duck that's hanging around there into humping one.. that'll straighten them out.

Tell me you've never had chickens without telling me you've never had chickens.
