As for those smallies. They're easy enough to catch in a river. Boil a 5 gallon bucket of green black walnut hulls (are walnut bark) and dump the "tea" upstream of the holes.

Then you can just dip them up as they float on top. Makes for an easy way to get'em for a church fish fry. Easiest way I know to catch river or creek fish.

someone fill me in...i read the 5-30 post and all of this stuff and dont get the big deal. Well besides the diapers thing. But not my point. Ok so maybe the photo was a dead giveaway to the location but why does it matter? Its like tellin someone where a few wood ducks are roosting but you know where the mallards and pintails are feeding. Its not even the best water for catching them. As for riverbassin the last time I checked maybe the name of a river was dropped but once again its like sayin I caught a 20 lb stringer on Wateree. Nothing specific. Guess its about time for an alias so some can find something to argue about.

There is one waterway in SC with Smallies in it.

Yes, it is an 85 mile river basin...unfortunately, it has roughly ten public access points. Those areas get fished heavy.

I have been catching them since 1999, after I stumbled on them. I dont catch the sizes or quantities I used to...and it is a drastic change, not a gradual one.

Lets use Par for example. If you hunt it regular...and have been scratching out a canvasback and a black on every trip...are you going to broadcast that to the world? In short, if you find something special...keep your fucking mouth shut about it.

Old ass men like to keep them by the cooler full to eat them seen it happen several times. ( and don't say why didn't you call DNR because i did and they couldn't catch a cold.) the fishery can't handle that. keep spreading the word though, smallmouth fishing is getting exactly like duck hunting in South Carolina.

There are still plenty of smallmouth to be caught in the river. If you can't catch them, you don't know what you're doing.....simple as that. I can go up there and fish all day, catch an ice box full, and not see another boat all day.
