To echo what was said above, those are from the York rite the first four degrees. After becoming a Master Mason, one can continue the journey into either the Sottish or York Rites. Royal Arch Mason is the 4th degree in the York Rite....supposedly one of the most amazing ceremonies in all of Masonry. Very time consuming and definitely something your family should be proud of. I was raised wearing one of my Grandfathers aprons from the early 1900's and that was very significant to me. The Scottish and York Rites, as I understand it, are somewhat of a dying breed these days, being as they take so much time to complete. It becomes hard to remain active in everything and unfortunately the Blue Lodge is normally the one that suffers. Which ever way you go after being raised....Scottish, York, Shriner, etc there is only so much of ones free time available.

The sword certainly appears to be a Knights Templar sword....is the blade wavy or straight? Obviously the ivory handle dates it well, but the original swords are wavy as opposed to smooth flat blades. Tilers are normally presented this sword in the ceremony as they are sworn. Interesting point for other brothers who may read this.... In early Freemasonry, the Tiler was “armed with the proper implement of his office,” which was appropriately, a trowel used for setting tiles.
Interesting stuff. Thanks for the response. I am proud of them, especially more now that I know what they are.

Cool stuff just be careful with some of the things that could be spiritually attached or invoked with that.

You aren't exactly playing with the group of masons that cook pancakes and like to think of themselves a communal help group.

    That is the stuff of:

Manly P Hall. "Man is but a god in the making" Seems like I have heard that lie before back in the garden!

Alice Bailey: Founder of the Lucifer Trust.

Helena Blavatsky: Writer of The Secret Doctrine. The same doctrine that is used in 33 degree Masonry! Lucifer is not Satan.

    Albert Pike & Alister Crowley.

Well....I suppose everyone knows about them.
    Yup, he's crazy...

When it comes your time to die, be not like those whose hearts are filled with the fear of death, so that when their time comes they weep and pray for a little more time to live their lives over again in a different way. Sing your death song and die like a hero going home. -Tecumseh-

Didn't say it was not nice or neat stuff, I just gave a warning.

I'm not worried about anything after me, that can harm me.

Y'all won some cool stuff at the fair. Or found some treasures at the flea market.

And JAB, your computer could use a quick wipe down.
