Way back we mixed 1/2 corn---1/2 protein. We haven't done that in years now, and brings me to my point once you get them acclimated to it they will come to it no issue. You can't keep them out of it. We fill up about every 1.5-2 weeks. We have one site you have to fill it up every 10 days they just decimate it. 150lbs every time.

Moral of the story keep it there for them. We generally stop from the beginning of deer season, and crank it back up late December. Then we run it Jan-Sept.

We are getting it from Orangeburg Milling. We are using a certain High Fence Pens (GH's) mix with 3% more protein.

    Start with a 14-16%

If you can find it. Then move up to 18%

We are running just shy of 21%

I’ve gone higher but 21% seems to be the happy medium
For maximum consumption with the most protein content

The over 21% with the exception of one brand seems to cause them to limit their intake

Getting that brand was expensive and a logistics nightmare.

If you get the Gedney mix from Orangeburg it may be a tad much just starting out.

    Buy it by the ton.
    Stick with putting it out

They will eventually go to it.

Bartletts carries Purina and another brand those are lower 14-16%

Buy 10 bags and mix with shelled corn

Then graduate up to a ton of 18%

Be proactive about improving public waterfowl habitat in South Carolina. It's not going to happen by itself, and our help is needed. We have the potential to winter thousands of waterfowl on public grounds if we fight for it.

    That doesn’t surprise me.

Ole boy’s cheese had long since slid off his cracker.

Truthfully, not sure he ever had any cheese to start with.

    Getting another ton this thursday.

With the weather heating up and no rain in sight, I doubt the food plots will be of any use and the browse will be slim in the woods with the temps like they are.

It is prime time to kick the antler growth in the butt! Protein if you have been feeding, keep feeding!

They are gonna need it now!

My neighbor wants to go to 25%.

I declined and are staying at 21.5% I want t keep everything eating, and pumped up!
