I have killed a lot of deer with a .243. Only problem I found is that if you have to trail one doesn't leave much blood.

gotta hit em right. Not as much room for error if you don't wanna have to look a long way for em.

Neck shoot 'em! I've killed dozens with a .243 doing that.

Killed several deer with my youth model 243 back in the day. Most were DRT. Never had a deer go more than 20/30 yards after the shot. Don't be afraid to use it.

Don't think that you are undergunned. The .243 is fine, and I wouldn't hesitate to hunt with one.....and do from time to time. The 25-06 is basically a .243 on steroids. I have killed quite a few with each. I will concede that the blood trail tends to be lighter, but I have never experienced a situation where I felt that shot placement was any more critical than with anything else I have used. I know that it seems like it would be and maybe it is, but I haven't seen it, yet. Of course, a leg shot is a wounded deer whether it was with a .243 or a 458 Win. Mag.

If it ain\'t accurate at long distance, then the fact that it is flat shooting is meaningless.

I bought my son (who's 13) an NEF youth rifle in 243 and we both love it. He killed his first two deer last fall with it and I rolled two hogs. It's a fine gun for killing deer or pigs. (I love my 270, too.)

Aim for the base of the neck or dead in the shoulder and the deer or pig will drop.

Its da cats ass in my opinion. I have 100x more confidence shooting my .243 than my .270 any day of the week. I shoot 100 grain power point Win. CXP2's in mine. Very rarely do I need to track anything. If I do I never have a problem with a blood trail either. I tried some 95 grain ballistic tips 10 or so years ago and was very dissatisfied.

.243s are for women and children.
or for men who like acting like a woman or a child.

i hate it. i lost all confidence after making a confirmed shoulder shot and losing the deer.
and i started acting like a woman and a child.

ps, this is hypothetical because im actually not "fucking retarded" enough to shoot a peashooter.

It would scare you and kingstree to death if you saw the number of deer my .243 has put DRT since I was 8 yo. A .243 is for a marksman kno dat. If you want to be moderator-elect you must have a open mind.
