Shop ceiling?

I have been in this building for 3 years. I have tried to convince my landlord to sheetrock the ceiling with no luck. I heat the shop with kerosene heaters. As long as the heaters are running its warmer, but the heat escapes quickly. I have come up with a few ideas like some heavy duty plastic stapled to the rafters. Or nailing a sill to the rafters and cutting some sheetrock or foam to go between the rafters. Any help redneck engineering this would be great.

I'm not sure honestly. There are 5 other buildings identical to mine in the complex. All of the others have sheetrock. I am assuming mine can handle it.

A Cellulose company could likely net it and spray insulation in. Wouldn’t look fantastic, but it would be in place for whenever you can talk the landlord into sheetrocking it, and should help drastically in the meantime.

Ringing good renters is not always easy. If you are a good clean renter that pays on time he should be happy. Tell him that if he will not modify to fit your needs you may have to look for another rental space. No one wants to loose clean, well paying tenants.

Where are you? You can probably pay a company such as 31w or Cowen’s to supply and install cheaper than you can buy it at Lowe’s.

16' is a high ceiling. Vent free propane gas heater should heat that place up quick and button caps and 1" foam board nailed to the rafters would be better than what you have now, especially if you stapled sheet plastic up first.. .
