I couldn't find the thread I was looking for.

But, for the class: here's another example of pits doing pit things.

Strange timing you posted this.....never had any pitbull encounters until yesterday. 2 pitbulls got into my sister's backyard mauling 2 of her pets. One got a load of lead and the other got away. My uncle heard the commotion and walked over to my sister's house. When he walked up to the fence the 2 pits made a B line straight for him and he shot the one. Fortunately, the one with lead was scanned and the owners were located by the microchip. The 2 pitbulls have killed cats in 2 other neighborhoods nearby and attacked a man per witness accounts and photos. I find it very strange that Lexington County Animal Control did not confiscate the other pitbull when they notified the owners as it had made its way home. Animal Control also released the shot pitbull to the owners son this morning to take to their vet for it's wounds.

Disclaimer - I nothing against pitbulls just another story that hits close to home. My sister is pretty upset as one of the pets died a couple hours ago. The scene was a mess!

We thought about it. We had them cornered and the one not shot wouldn't leave the one that was shot. Thankful for the chip as it brings closer to numerous families who's pets were recently killed and the man who was attacked. Come to find out LC Animal Control issued them a warning or ticket a year ago for not keeping them contained. They roam during the day and come home at night. Someone is going to be in some hot water.

One of the cats killed was just down the street from us. I had been on the lookout whenever coming in and out of the neighborhood.

The neighbor of the guy who had his cat killed tried to intervene and was full house kicking the dogs to the point where his foot hurt. He went back for his gun after they let go and they split.

Decades ago, my brother was stationed at Fort Lewis in Oregon. He came home from a day of chukar hunting just as one neighbors pure-bred chow was mauling his next door neighbor's toy poodle, in front of the whole family. He immediately walked over and let the chow hold both barrels from his nice 16 gauge L.C. Smith. Two loads of #7˝ shot from 8 feet away did the trick, but the poodle died.

Same thing I'd do to either of these pits.

What liability does one have if you “intervene” and kill one of these mongrels? Asking for a friend. Seems like a deep hole would be optimum

I just find it hard to comprehend how they can just release the shot dog and not take into custody the other after what transpired. Killed 3 pets, attacked a man in Settler's Point (hearsay) and my sisters other pet is still in critical condition. I've got a couple names but if anyone knows of an attorney that has handled dog cases please PM their info.

None! They charged at my uncle when he broke up the attack.

It had one until it peeled off in the sun.

My kids are all still alive and well. The middle one said, "Night night, Crazy Eddie" right before bed and miraculously still has his face.

    Weird.

I feel sure their days are numbered. Everything works itself out in the end. I just hate it for my sister, she is very upset. If we would have killed them I would have never thought to scan for chips since no collars. We now know the owner's and they will be held accountable for their negligent and careless actions from our family and numerous others that span over the past few months.

I was sitting in the stand this morning, looked down and there was a pit in the field. No collar but didn’t look hungry either. As much as I don’t care for them I couldn’t bring myself to shoot it. Looked happy enough at the time and ran the turkeys out of the field but was fine other than that. No problems shooting a coyote but just couldn’t do it to a dog. Now if it was attacking my dog that’s a different story.

I can’t get over the fact you had the live one cornered standing with the shot one and didn’t kill them both? I mean they attacked your sister’s pets and charged at someone. What does it take??!!

We cornered them 10' from a lady's house in creek with an old lady sitting on her deck. They were over the property line by a few feet with people in a housing development watching. Sometimes you have to make educated decisions even though you would rather do other things under th circumstances.
