    Default Jersery shore duck migration.

Just got back from the in-laws in jersery. Drove to the 3 miles to the bay where his boat is parked to watch the ducks. Saw a lot more than here in SC. While there a local hunter came back in with a banded mallard and a black. He was disgusted by the lack of birds in the area, said by this time they are normally covered up with them. They are still waiting on them to show up also. Just thought I would share.

For the record, I told him several people down here would give a kidney to have what I saw in the air that morning.

If they still don't have birds, chances of us getting em any time soon is looking dim. Maybe by the end of Jan areas north of us will start to see consistent sub-freezing temps.

Delta in a nutshell: Breeding grounds + small wetlands + big blocks of grass cover + predator removal + nesting structures + enough money to do the job= plenty of ducks to keep everyone smiling!

Their water temps in the bay were between 53 to 55 degrees. Even though the marsh was brown there was a lot of green just under the water.

Just got a call and they are expecting their first light snow tuesday with a low of 16deg. then a warm up. The in-laws fescue grass is still green where he had 10inchs of snow this time last year. Ground temp is still very warm.

It will take a shit load of really cold air quite a while (like weeks)to make a big difference with the ocean and ground being that warm.
