Cool: Thrown Ball Takes Spherical Panoramas
This is ball with 36 cameras embedded in its exterior. When thrown, all the cameras will snap a picture at the ball's apex, which can later be automatically stitched together for a fully spherical panorama. That's like, 360-degrees times 360-degrees.

What would you use it for?

With the Coast Guard I get to travel all over both with work and while moving from place to place. We get to see a lot of cool spots across the country. It would just be neat at places like Rushmore, the Badlands, Ole Faithful, the Grand Canyon, and even for just being in the marsh and swamps. Just a different point of view from what my DSLR can capture. Can you imagine tossing it from a layout blind in Canada as a huge wave of ducks or geese was being shot at by your buddies? You'd have the birds, the blinds, and the shot all captured in a virtual panorama!
