It will be his first hunt, he's shooting my single shot 4-10 that was my first gun. He called me this morning and asked what kind of snacks I liked, his mom was taking him to the store this afternoon. It was then that I relived all the excitement of those hunts when I was a young buck. I don't have kids and tend to believe I am as excited as him. We have been practicing shooting, and worked through the hunters ed, now I just can't wait to get out there.

This story just got me so pumped to get out there. I miss those dove hunts I went on as a youth with my grandfather, uncle, and great uncle. Those were some of the purest memories I've ever had. Shooting doves in Rincon GA in the AM, eating a big ole lunch, and going back and shooting the tamie quail my great uncle's clients had missed the day before. Then heading back, home cleaning all the birds out in the back yard with my family telling stories, and watching my grandmother cook them all up. Thanks for bringing up some great memories. As for me I've got loads of family in town on top of not having a place to go. I might hit the public field for a hunt in one of the later seasons though. I've got two heirloom side by sides I'd like to shoot this year.

Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn't go so far as to call a dog filthy but they're definitely dirty. But, a dog's got personality. Personality goes a long way.

Thanks, I bought that gun in Texas.(that is a cool story in and of itself).. Meant to use it for Quail, (and do) but that isn't enough days a year with that little gun. I try to give it a little more care afield than normal..

    It's a great shooting gun- IC/Mod.

That's a good way to ruin a good dog. I understand your desire to take the pup in the field, but with the amount of shooting that will be going on in a public field and the pup only being a baby, that's not a good idea. JMO
