    Default Processor for Laptop

Looking at getting a new laptop and not really sure about what kind of processor I need. The one I am looking at you can get a Intel Core i3-390M Processor (2.66GHz, 3MB L3, 1066MHz FSB), Intel Core i5-480M Processor (2.66GHz, 3MB L3, 1066MHz FSB) or AMD Athlon II X2 Dual-Core P340. All I will be using the computer for is schoolwork, watching videos, listening to music ect. So my question is will i3 be enough or should I go with the i5?

IMO, it depends on the cost difference. If it's not too much I'd go with the I5 just because I don't know what kind of processor demand I'll be using/needing in a few years vs. what I'm doing today.

But, then I tend to keep equipment for a long time so I tend to think longer range. If you change your equipment every few years I wouldn't worry about it.

    Have fun!

According to CPU Benchmark the two Intel processors are nearly identical in performance:

    Intel Core i5 M 480 @ 2.67GHz Benchmark (Higher is better): 2774 Rank (lower is better): 214

    Intel Core i3 M 390 @ 2.67GHz Benchmark (Higher is better):2759 Rank (Lower is better): 217

But the AMD is a slowpoke:

AMD Athlon II P340 Dual-Core Benchmark (Higher is better):1313 Rank (Lower is better):482

unless the i5 is the same price as the i3, id go with the i3. they are basically equal in this case. the i5's "turbo" feature gives it a tiny boost but its not worth the extra money imo.
    this amd processor is slow.
