    Default Youth Day Hunt!

What a day! Eric, 8, shot his first deer with the same gun I shot my first deer with 22 years ago, Remington 742 Woodsmaster in .308. To say I'm happy is an understatement. 110# nanny. This has made a trifecta this year for him, turkey, striper and now a deer.

Good for him! If you have an accurate 742, you have SOMETHING! They have one of the worse reputations for accuracy, but I have seen a couple that shot OK. Congrats!
If it ain\'t accurate at long distance, then the fact that it is flat shooting is meaningless.

HELL YES!!!!! I killed my first buck with a 742 but in 30-06. My father used it for years then handed it to me when he bought a new rifle. It was a good gun and never gave me a minutes worth of trouble. The kid will remember this for the rest of his life.
