Thank God they only winged her.

If they'd hit her straight on there's no tellin' how bad she'd be.

SDK, I wouldnt be too worried about it at only 15 weeks. The only thing you want to do right now is build retrieving desire and work on basic obedience. Keep your sessions short and fun. There are a lot of good training programs on the market, depending on what you want out of your pup. Chris Akin's Duck Dog Basics is an excellent dvd that goes through basic OB, force fetch, and into double marked retrieves and steadiness. If you want to take her further, into blinds and handling, Rick Stawski's Fowl Dogs series is a good choice that wont drain your wallet.

Im training my first dog and she's only 14 months old so this is a somewhat uneducated opinion. There are a lot of knowledgeable folks on this site that can offer you some great advice and help you in your training as well.

Good luck and enjoy the ride

yep, check cord and maybe half a dozen retrieves every other day maximum. Sorry we high jacked the thread after the first response.

when she is bringing the retrieve back, run backwards where she chases you and then take the bumper from her. Keep the amount of retrieves short, do only a couple of retrieves. She is young and will have a short attetion span, all you want to do is get her super excited about retrieving. Try using a feather wing instead of a bumper too

usually you creat a problem to fix a problem - i use small pieces of hotdogs to get them to cross the line - but causes dropping problems - this will be fixed when you go through force fetch and hold - she will hold it until you tell her different - i do it a couple of different ways - dry leather glove technique or screw in the collar - she a little young for much pressure. -keep it fun FOR HER.

Work on basic ob for the next month, here, heel and sit, be consistent. Dont give her a command you cant enforce. Especially work on "here". Force Fetch will take care of the delivery.

I would find a hallway that she is forced to come back. when she comes back lots of praise and lots of hey hey hey u might also start running backward hollaing hey hey hey make it a chasing game. Dont burn her up only a few retrieves and like everyone said focus on ob more right now..... good luck and make it fun...

Once your ob is solid and she knows here means here this problem might resolve itself. If not there is always the check cord. Get here ob solid first and I mean solid. And then like others have said keep the retrieves short and fun. She is only 15 weeks. Don't expect to much to soon.

Great advice. Get the basics perfect before moving on. This advice was given to me and is exactly right. Don't move to fast.
