These guys were nuts (no pun intended)! They didn't just shoot the pigs on their place (4000 acres). They go out and catch the Bore's and put them in this pen. They then do what you see above (cut the bore's nuts out, called Baring) then let it go. They also notch the ear. Then later when they want some meat they will kill a Bared pig. Now these guys had some pigs and some really freaking HUGE ones too. Not just itty bitty ones like in the Chase post. However their population was very much under control. I was shocked that we didn't see more pigs than we did. I guess this is one way to do it but I don't want any part of this.

Most of the guys I knew in FL would do that but they would tie them and take em back and put them in a holding pen to fatten, then either sell or eat them.

these guys had a holding pen, in fact that's where they did the nut cutting. I guess the only difference is they just let them go to fatten themselves up and take them when they want meat. This was a 4000 acre Cattle ranch in South Florida not too far from Big Cypress Indian Reservation. What got me is they all sounded like yankee's but these boys weren't yankee.

I've done that plenty of times with domesticated hogs with floppy ears(they fight too).......doesn't work out to good for the pig.........

oh btw we were there to hunt turkeys. We spent all day there Sunday and only saw 1 freaking turkey (a hen) This place was some of the most beautiful property I've ever seen. The place should have be LOADED with Turkeys! They said normally you can't go anywhere on their property and not see Turkeys. It was REALLY odd! We heard one bird Gobble that morning and it died on the neighbors property.

we went from hunting Orange groves all day on Saturday to the South Florida Jungle then back to the groves early Monday morning to kill number 3 for the weekend. I'd of expected to see birds on this property but nothing. I guess it didn't help that there was a TON of standing water all over the place.

It doesn't seem to hurt as bad as it looks. I've helped do it to domestic pigs and after you cut them, they'll go right over to the trough to eat as soon as you let them loose.

It's done to almost all domestic male pigs.
