Onions can be poisonous for dogs.

We bathe ours in Palmers Olive Oil Shampoo (people shampoo used by many Black people). It cleans well and replaces their natural oil.

I personally think open-wrt/dd-wrt/tomato in a compatible home #10 tub are the best solutions for the normal K9, but don't overlook the efficiency of a pfsense (monowall with openvpn support) with ALIX (just don't confuse it with AJAX as that could be unusally harsh on the skin).

I have a chessie so my form of bathing him is a water hose (only when we have been hunting in salt water). No soap!

Yeah. But they are a lot more expensive than the Palmer's Olive Oil Negro Shampoo.

Dawn -- it'll kill the heck out of a flea. Take the left over soapy water and throw it in this favorite spot in the yard.

I didn't know that, course I haven't been around Chessies much either.

But that is one of many reasons I always have yellow labs instead of blacks.

For years I owned a Jeep CJ5 and my dog always rode in the Jeep with me cause there was nowhere else to ride. After a hunt with the heater running and a wet dog the smell can get pretty stout.

Yellows have an odor when they are wet, but black just flat stink.

That said, the worst smelling wet dog I have ever owned or encountered was a liver spotted pointer I owned. Back in high school I owned a 55 Chevy, when I'd go bird hunting I let my pointer sit in the back seat. If we had just hit a field with dew on the broom straw or the dog has crossed a creek, closed up in that 55 he stunk so bad you could hardly stand it.

I only use the Adams if/when there is a serious flea problem.

Switched to this stuff a few years ago and have been very satisfied with it, but then my one Golden has some serious allergies that we deal with.

    'TheraNeem Pet Shampoo'

For flea resistance, I also use 'Buddy Rinse with Neem Oil', not the scented variety.

Dawn detergent is entirely too harsh for anything than an oil covered animal.

Hartz products have always been known to be harsh and wouldn't use them on my dogs if they were the only dog shampoo on the market.
