duckkiller,
what vegetation is drawing the coots and ringnecks to this impoundment?
Be proactive about improving public waterfowl habitat in South Carolina. It's not going to happen by itself, and our help is needed. We have the potential to winter thousands of waterfowl on public grounds if we fight for it.
Bog,
This is not my impoundment, but I have a little bit of access to it. I hunted it twice this year with no luck. There is some natural grass growing on the bottom, unfortunately this pond is anywhere from 5-11 feet deep. there is also another impoundment beside this one. 1 is about 30-40 acres the other is 25-35 acres. The pond in my pics has killed Cans, Sprigs, Ringos, Bluebills, Ruddy's, Buffies, Hoodies, and I think a black this season, oh and a few redheads. I've got a pic of a couple redheads as well, but I was too far away with my lense. And to my knowledge there is no way to drain these ponds, nor are they planted with anything. Apparently the previous landowner, say 7-10 years ago, dug 3-4 ponds to sell the dirt and make some money. these are about 1/2 mile from marsh backing up to the intracoastal.
