It will work fine if set up like a club which from what I can tell is the direction its heading.

I would certainly be interested in hearing the details on this (place, $$$, # ppl, etc). Until then... I'm kinda along the same thoughts as guddogguru and willk.

If we lease fields and make a "club" out of it, it needs to have iron clad rules and ONE leader.

And management of the resource needs to be key - it's easy to burn a field. I see it happen every year.

Yeah, you can't do the ruling by committee. And there has to be consequences for major rules violations.

there are a couple of different threads about this... has there been a proposed field for the lowcontry yet?

Ok, from what I have gathered so far.. We have 72 responses, maybe some of those duplicated and/or responded again.. but anyway there are a bunch of people... If everyone brought 1 guest, but probably 12.. We would have 250 people in a 10 acre field.... Lots of beer, tripping over one another to shoot a bird and 10 people culled from being shot... DAT'LL WORK !!!! When we doing this ?

Where'd you get that there would be lots of beer?

Ain't a soul here that said it'd be mandatory for you to come. Damn.

The idea sounds like a good one. Leased fiels already planted would be the only way to go in my mind. The hurdles would be finding landowner who know how and are willing to play ball like we want them to. Collecting money upfront, so no one gets screwed. And like Rat mentioned having some rules, that if you break em your ass get's canned. To have a quality dove field there is no room for unsafe acts, nor for those persons who can't understand why the field may not be shot every week.

When thinking of the rules, don't forget the dogs. We don't want the dog that will run across the field and pick up someone elses doves any more than we want the dogs that can't be left to themselves to socialize with the other dogs before and after the hunt.
