garden lights from walmart with the aluminum reflector and a car battery-- you have to cut the plug off the lights and add the little gator clips for ease of use but its the way i love to do it--

no fucking generator noise to bust in on your evening.

also- they have the clamp built into them to hook to your boat or a board or whatever

I've got a homemade one that's round piece of foam with a car headlight set into it. The cord comes out the back and plugs into a cig lighter on the boat with the light just floating (light down) on the surface of the water.

It came with the boat so I don't know where the guy who made it got the foam.

I make mine with a ready made underwater light made by Streamlight, I think. It looks like a big test tube and has a halogen bulb and comes with battery clips. I mount it in 4' section of 1 1/4" pvc pipe and modify a regular clamp-on rod holder to hold it. The holder is modified so that the pipe is only held by friction and can break away from the holder if I plow it into an oyster rake. Underwater lights don't give you any surface glare or reflection and if you adjust the height just off the bottom, it will cast a shadow across a doormat.

I have been eyeballing the LED underwater lights and been thinking of devising something in regards to a light bar made from 3-5 of those lights, and a length of pvc.

    Salt Marsh,

I'll get some pictures this weekend of my mount. The light is made by Brinkman. Here's a link:

PB - Thanks. I appreciate it. I started with a coleman lantern, moved up to a car head light, and then to clamp-on lights with 12 volt bulbs. Never tried the underwater light route and think I would like to give that a try.

Busted. Oh the choices within 10 minutes of Clemson.
