Will a normal class 3 { obx brand} lifejacket keep me afloat ? with all the crap on? What about with waders on?

I tested the ol waders will make you sink theory this past summer, and it aint true. I jumped in the pool with my waders on and initially had a hard time staying under water because all of the trapped water made me float, once I forced water in, I couldn't tell any difference in weight as long as I stayed in the water I could tred water just as long with them on as I could off, the trouble is getting out of the water, once you break the water surface you weigh to much to get back in a boat without taking them off, I tested neoprene 1000 gram lacrosse wader's so I dont know if different materials would do amything else, I think Mythbuster's did a show on this and came up with the same conclusion

You will never know until you try.

    Be sure to film it.

Just try not to fall in. I would let someone else test that one for you. Though I would think that life vest would suffice for keeping you afloat with out much problems.

yes, a type III will keep you aloat with all the layers you'll have on to stay warm.
the bonus is your neoprene waders also have a good amount of buoyancy.

why not wear a wading belt to help keep the water out of the waders in case you decide to check your bottom paint on the boat.

One extra good thing i got out of life saving merit badge was jumping in the water with jeans and a jacket on , and had to self inflate a jacket with air to help stay afloat and then pick up a cinder block off the bottom of the lake...(camp coker), yes i am a life scout, taught me alot.
