Been doin' it a while. Gettin' burned out. I'd like to see someone new get in the groove.
When I was younger I always used to hear that practice makes perfect. Later I heard that nobody's perfect. So, I just stopped practicing.

Again not trying to be an Ass!! If you cant beat everyone in SC the chances of doing real well in Ark are not to promising. The three and out rule makes no since. I was told from the rules commitee in Ark there is no three and out rule for state contest. For some reason some think that we do have this rule in SC. Im not going to enter the state I dont want to piss off or upset anyone. I like this sport so I hope the SC state contest remains a good one. It's like T-Ball everyone gets to play and win!!!

I have not kept up with it,but with the exception of Ryan Williams I do not believe anyone has made the final round in the worlds contest that has won the SC state. Not being an ass!!If you cant beat folks at a regional the chances of doing real well in Ark. are not very promising either.I do agree with ya on the three and out rule,if you can win it every year then you should be able to compete every year, but what are your standards if you can not compete with other folks at regionals. It's 2009 and I am assuming that you have not qualified since 2006 and winning the state contest 3 years in a row is a huge accomplishment, but in my opinion winning a regional in Tenn. or Maryland is something you can really hang your hat on.At one of these regionals you will be qualifying against alot of the folks you will be competing against in Ark. ,not just the folks from this fine state.I hope no offense is taken from this, just looking at it form a different stand point.

    B&G,
I think our view is not that different. I agree with you as well. Its harder to win a regional. My point is if your going to send someone to represent your state, it should be the best you have to offer. Im not saying im, the best by any means. It does not matter who wins or how many times, you send your best.. Thats my point. Your right, I have not been to the worlds since 2006. We dont have the chances in our area like so many out west. We have nc and md. The ride to md is not very short for the contest. I try to give myself about two or three chances a year to get a ticket.
It gets a little tougher to travel for these things once you have a family. So thats even more reason why we should not have a three and out rule. If you live in Ark you have a bout 7 or 8 contest you can enter w/ in a state line away. They dont have three and out rules so why do we.
People say we need this rule so people will stay interested. If the same person wins every year people will not want to enter. Im sorry but grow up and practice and beat them.... I got my ass kicked the first few years....
    Well thats my 2 cents....

Here we go again..... If you live here in SC you have just as many chances as anyone else in the U.S. You have to be able to travel. I've won contests all over the place. (This is a fact - not me just talkin' trash). It costs some bucks, that's for sure. It's like anything else - you get out of it what you put into it. I've been going to the World's for the last 6 years. I've made it to the 3rd round 3 or 4 times, and finished as high as 12th out of 68 callers. You're right Guzman, if you can't win somewhere else then you probably won't do too good at the World's. It's all up to you. You have to practice with a purpose. If you want to go to the World's so damn bad then you have to go to a lot of contests. Stop looking for a handout and put you some road time in! To anyone that's new to the contest - going to the World's is a blast. I hope someone win's that's never been. Our contest here in SC is a good stepping stone.
As far as the 3 and out rule - there's nothing from Stuttgart that is "against" it. As long as a state follows all of Stuttgart's rules then they are good. Some states have it and some don't. No big deal. The purpose of the rule is to get new people into the contest and keep the sport alive. That's what I want to happen this year. I want someone totally new to win. I'll be proud to help anyone out, all you have to do is give me a call. I'm pretty busy but I can find time. Good luck fellahs! I'll see you there. I'll be the guy holding the camera this time.
When I was younger I always used to hear that practice makes perfect. Later I heard that nobody's perfect. So, I just stopped practicing.

Congratulations to Zach Peavy! After TWO tie-breakers, I couldn't hold off the young buck any longer. It was a lot of fun, and it was nice meeting everybody. Here are a couple of links...the first is the story, and the second is pictures from yesterday's contest.
