I got the big Blackstone from Academy; I'll see how it goes.

    Thanks for the ideas/opinions.

I think the first meal will be chicken, steak, and shrimp fajitas.

I have gas, recteq and egg at the house. I have gas, recteq, egg, and blackstone at the farm. Blackstone gets the most use.

I'm not buying a Blackstone.. it's not like I'm inviting a crowd over for fajitas. We do have one at our cabin, it's cool for after hunt breakfast chores. I don't loathe them, just don't have the need

I'm gonna try my hand at mimicking the Waffle House cooks... Weber kettle grill will be close by, & I have a decent smoker at the barn.

    Hopefully I'll like the Blackstone.

We've had one for years at the cabin.. it's useful cooking an ass of bacon, and such. I bought a mini flat top a couple years ago to keep outside, but I just didn't use it enough. Years ago a liquor wholesaler gave me one of the first traegers. I did nothing for me, I kept it at the house for a year or two. Someone off of this site got it, basically gave it away, I think for a 22 that would only cycle one round. I was fine with it, don't even know where it is. I had one nice commercial gas grill that I'd mess with between the egg, it had a larger searing unit on it. Then I had a Wilmington, didn't do much for me either. My egg is my mainstay. most of my steaks are done on cast iron on my range. I do eat a filet twice a month. We have a men's group that meet up every other Thursday, and we have a large grill at that cabin. I grill the steaks for everyone 99 percent of the time, and filets are easier, simply because of the lack of fat, cooking 25 to 30 and having them all done to the right temp, done at the same time is easier with filets.. I'd start a grease fire with ribeyes.

If you got a good gas grill get you a cast iron topper and you got a griddle. Some people over think sometimes.

One of the advantages of cooking on the grill is you don't have to mess up any skillets/frying pans, which have to be washed and cleaned.

I would eat out before I'd cook/smoke on a grill and the finish it in a pan.

I use my Traeger a ton. I disagree with the steaks etc not being good on them. However The reqteq is the better choice bc it has a higher top temp range thats better for searing. Anyone I cook for is impressed with the food that comes off of it. (Best chicken Ive eaten) And it is just as easy if not easier with the bluetooth/wifi capabilities. Can set and change temperatures all from in the house if needed. Can set timers and temperature alarms also.

What do you tell people when they say they’re impressed? “Thanks it’s a multi step process. Plug the grill in, dump the pellets in, walk inside, and click some buttons on my phone”.

And you can’t go sit out by the grill during kid bedtime under the guise of “honey I’ve got to check on the food”

And beer tastes better next to a grill than it does inside.

And I’m on my phone too much for work during the day, the last thing I want to do is have it attached to my hip while I’m trying to wind down and cook dinner.

    Different strokes I guess.

No I just say thank you like a normal person. Also I can drink a beer beside the grill outside without a guise. I didnt say you had to use the phone app. Just saying you dont have to babysit whether the coals will burn out or turn your food into ash. And I guess im weird but enjoy being around my family to not need an excuse to "check the food".
