The 10 acre stuff is bullshit. I’m having a hard time u derstanding why we’re having meetings also? Let’s discuss and acknowledge one particular hu ting method in particular that results in trespassing and ruining adjoining property hunters’ hunts. Both already illegal. What’s to discuss? Should we have a night hunting forum or trespassing to hunt waterfowl meeting series next; to discuss what exactly? Even if we buy into the having meetings to show interest ideology, we saw how the Turkey meetings worked out. They did exactly what they wanted to despite biology recs.

Since they are my deer, why should a guy with 10 acres of woods you can see through take his and his gay friends and kill 10 deer off that 10 acres?

By replacing the current one-size-fits-all model with a tiered system ranging from (at least) 250-acre small-tract cooperatives to 3000+ acre master tracts, this policy establishes clear operational boundaries that scale with land size. This model could incorporate mandatory GPS tracking, boundary setbacks, and pack size limits. A balanced approach protects private property rights and reduces trespass complaints while preserving South Carolina’s rich heritage of dog hunting on appropriately sized holdings.

Sorry but those ideas suck and infringe on freedom. DNR must be made to enforce current trespass laws. I could get behind requiring GPS collars.

This is just fluff... more paperwork. PUT SOME FINANTIAL INCENTIVES in the bill to make it HURT to have a dog ever get out of the drive.

I'm old. I've seen it all. Dogs do dog things. Deer care a lot less than you think.
Try to enjoy life a little and stop trying to limit hunting before it bites you in the ass.

I'm not picking on anyone specifically, its just that we have had this discussion so many times and the emotions get all screwy and we miss the point...
Most of my emotions center around new laws and the understanding that nothing changes. The steamroll of emotions leads to poor decisions. I dont want to see that happen bc I care about this little arena. I grew up dog hunting and would hate to see it go. Many of you profess to be some southern patriot and hate anyone with an Ohio tag but then you spit in the eye of some traditions that all of the sudden bother you bc you're a (rich) landowner and think you own the whole planet.

When a dog is on your property and you dont know about it, does it effect your named buck the same?

100% what we’ve been doing for a decade on the GPS, 2 decades on the amount of dogs and where at.. Along with about 14 miles of fence..

I think this is extremely tough to mandate at a state level, although very easy to in a club or piece of property.


And as far as the cost for each violation, I have no idea.

Does this pertain to all dogs or just those after deer?

$100, $200, $500, $1000 and loss of license..

Again my thoughts are to get rid of the people that don’t have anything to lose. Rogues are gonna rogue. Deer, turkeys, ducks, etc

Dogs still have no business on property that they don’t have permission to be on..

But I agree, I know it doesn’t affect the deer like it’s being portrayed. Unless someone shoots him..

I wouldn't be so sure about that. When the public meetings discussing deer tags were held, Charles Ruth basically shut down any opposing questions and we ended up with tags(I am pro tag). Public meetings concerning turkeys, we ended up with reduced tags and seasons(I was pro tag reduction and reduced season). I use to dog hunt and loved it. Our family farm where I live borders a tract of land that gets dog hunted mostly by friends and neighbors and it doesn't affect the deer or hunting. If or when the dogs come across I get a phone call and they go pick them up! They also will wait until later up in the mornings during our rut in October to turn loose out of respect. There are head strong folks on both sides of the ball here though. In my opinion there are more grumpy still hunters than there are dog hunters. It was mentioned above by someone, "Deer care a lot less than people realize".

Well i wouldn't wait for someone else to make the those decisions for you. I am just a spectator in this fight as i is not a problem for me. Truely in the middle and see both sides clearly. I don't dog hunt but would if i had access for a change in pace. I have before and enjoyed it.

How many from this site have actually went and hunted with a club that dog hunt the way it should be done? How many have hunted with Hambone, Pbiz, Myself, or Porkchop?
I have hunted with P, and have personally sent multiple invites to several on this site.
Where does this stop with dog hunters? Coon hunter, hog hunters, rabbit hunters, squirrel hunters, bird hunters all will be next take that to the bank! The laws are in place now if they would be enforced the problem is DRN officers don't wont to pursue the problems. Our club has always invited the officers in our area to come hunt and they always have the same answer "man it'll look bad if we hunt with yall bo."

sasha made my point--he gets mad just thinking about this issue. I dont. I've thought about it enough. I just wish my neighbors dogs wouldnt be on my cameras so much. You know what I do about it? Not give a shit. It seems to help me.
