Default Woolly Croton (aka Hogwart, Duckweed, Goatweed)

I am trying to learn more about this weed as a quail food source. I have been told it grows naturally in the Palmetto State, and is not invasive. I have also been told that it is viewed as a nuisance by farmers because cattle won't eat it and it is often removed or burned out. Any thoughts are welcome...I have never looked for it and would like to know just how 'naturally occurring' it is.

I’ve never noticed it in SC, but that doesn’t mean it’s not native. It very well may be I don’t know. I do know it’s all over the place on the land we manage in OK and AR. Cutovers will be full of it. The guys out there say that doves love it. Never heard anything from them about quail.

Excellent dove feed... It's the one weed I'll tolerate in my field but I don't have much of it.

I used to have it in my fields but most ag practices get rid of it.
